For those of you who haven't caught wind of this story, or haven't been keeping up with it, Jessica Ahlquist is a 16 year old high school student in Rhode Island who saw something wrong taking place at her school and worked to correct it using the most effective means at her disposal. As it happens that 'Something' was an obviously Christian prayer banner hanging in her school auditorium (picture after the jump). Oh, and the means by which this gross oversight was dealt with? Another pretty weighty document that predates the banner by, oh, something like a hundred and seventy-five years. Roughly.
A lawsuit ensued with the school, the whole thing coming before a District Judge, who ruled (which should surprise no one) against the school, and ordered the banner removed from the school. But how was young Jessica received by her fellow Rhode Islanders, nay her fellow Americans as a result? Well... that's where I start cursing a lot.
In response to the court ruling, this week, lets just say a couple worthless pieces of shit decided that they were gonna go all Pro-Lifer, Sarah Palin, Fred Phelps, Uber-Fundy-Ninja on Jessica. There it is folks, the face of Fundamentalist Christianity, the Tea Party, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck all rolled into one... God is going to fuck you in the ass... Didn't know God was into anal, but if that's what he does as 'Punishment' (Note, I seriously doubt there will be any divine retribution), then I better go invest in a butt-plug and start doing some serious ass-hole stretches to prep for the end, cuz if anyone is going to have some serious man-meat, you best believe it's going to be GOD!
As some one who DOES have religion, I'm a little... a lot... REALLY fucking disgusted by this stuff, because I'm also a Constitution loving, country serving, patriot, and it pisses me off when people want to cherry pick from, what I personally view as, the single most important document in American history. As a government founded on the idea of religious FREEDOM the Constitution comes first. Fuck everything else. Get right with the Bill of Rights, and then get right with God later.
Just because these knuckle-draggers like to make up imaginary meanings for bible verses and regurgitate them at anyone who stands still long enough doesn't mean the same thing applies to the documents that ensure our personal freedoms, human rights, and it fucking well doesn't mean you get to be a hateful piece of shit in the name of GOD because (yet again) the Constitution won out over the Bible, as it ought to.
If I were a lesser man, I'd go twitter bomb those ragged little bastards, but instead, I think I'll drop Jessica a line, and show her some support.
